Matt and I just celebrated our fifteenth wedding anniversary with a fun one-night trip to Chicago. I’m not sure how time has flown by so fast but hitting a milestone like fifteen years makes a girl realize how important it is to start making the most of life together with fun getaways. Whether it’s a big or small trip, traveling is one sure way to make lasting memories with the people you love the most. So, in all of the chaos of busy schedules for two boys, we carved out a quick trip for just the two of us!

What to Do in Wrigleyville
If you’re going to Wrigleyville in the spring, summer, or early fall – it’s a no brainer, you better hit up a Chicago Cub’s game. Wrigley Field is not only historically iconic but is still relevant today with an energy that runs deep with tradition.
Looking for an “out of the park” experience? Book a Wrigley Rooftop for an all-inclusive (food and drinks) good time. Rooftop seats are perfect for groups celebrating special occasions.
There are endless places to hang out with friends before and after a game. Just walking to and from the field, you will find that there are pubs, clubs, and restaurants; one right after the other to choose from.
We started by meeting up with some friends at Murphy’s Bleachers where we grabbed a quick beverage. Murphy’s is right across from Wrigley Field and has a great patio space, so it’s always the perfect spot to meet before the game.
After the game we met back up with friends at The Cubby Bear. It’s a must-go-to while in the neighborhood and has been a staple since 1953. The top level is more like a pub, and the lower level is an open space with music and room to dance. This hip venue is also known to host live music, making it a popular destination.
Another fan favorite pre/post-game hangout spot is the Gallagher Way located right outside of Wrigley field. You’ll not only have access to a big grassy space to chill, but the Gallagher is also home to Hotel Zachary and several different venues for eating and drinking.

One last place that is worth mentioning is Lost and Never Found. Do yourself a favor and plan on spending some time at the fabulous rooftop bar. The vibe is unique and eclectic.
A Walk in the Park

If you’re traveling to Wrigleyville, take some comfy clothes and walking shoes because you can’t do a Wrigleyville trip without walking down to Lincoln Park. I might be bias, because I used to live in Lincoln Park, but it’s my favorite area in Chicago. So, naturally I was eager to revisit the desirable neighborhood that has a special place in my heart and wanted to share it with Matt. We walked through the nature preserve and down by the lake.
When walking through Lincoln Park, make sure you make it all the way down to Fullerton Ave area, where the walkway for the lake really opens up to a beautiful view of the downtown of the city. You’ll also find the beach here.
If you have enough time, pop into Lincoln Park Zoo, which is right there and free! I mean, you should at least stop in and say “hello” to the polar bears!
Where To Stay When Going to a Chicago Cub’s Game

There are so many special pockets around Chicago, but because our plans revolved around a Cubs game (Go Cubs Go!) I wanted to take advantage of all the fun that Wrigley has to offer so I booked our room right there in the heart of it all. We stayed right on Clark Street just a couple blocks away from Wrigley Field.
Our hotel, The Chicago Hotel Collection Wrigleyville, was more of a boutique style hotel with a fun and unique decor that was fitting for Wrigley. It has an older aesthetic yet clean and modern design. We had a great view of exciting Clark Street at night, and we were footsteps away from all that this bustling neighborhood has to offer.
A few other great options of places to stay while in Wrigley would be:
Hotel Zachary – A bit more expensive on game days than where we stayed, but an overall more elevated experience.
Wrigleyville Inn – A guest house with free parking! Free parking makes this place a home run!
Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace – A gym, free breakfast, and parking available leaves this hotel positive reviews.
Where To Eat
We ate dinner at Swift Tavern where the food was chef’s kiss, and the atmosphere is perfect for date night. I got the salmon and give it a 10/10. The sides are big enough to share, and we got the mash potatoes and mac and cheese.
Insider tip, I recommend requesting a window seat on the second floor for a view of the famous Wrigley Field marquee.
If you’re looking for a brunch or lunch spot Swift Tavern offers that too.

We wrapped up our quick trip with a delicious brunch at the prettiest little restaurant, The Brunchery.
The atmosphere was everything you want in a brunch spot. I got the blueberry French toast with cheesy hashbrowns and highly recommend! While this adorable little brunch spot isn’t technically in Wrigleyville, it’s still right on Clark Street just down the road from Wrigley, in Lincoln Park.
Insider Tip: A great spot to eat after you’ve taken your walk through Lincoln Park (that’s what we did)!

Travel More – Book the Trip!
Living in the Midwest, Chicago is one of our favorite cities to visit. There’s so much to do and it’s such an easy drive from where we live in northern Indiana.
If you’re not lucky enough to be living in the Midwest, I still recommend adding Chicago to your bucket list of places to travel to.
Outside of Wrigleyville and Lincoln Park, Chicago has so many other neighborhoods and popular attractions like Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, Field Museum, and more!
